VA lending guide
The VA Home loan program is only for veterans and their spouses. There is no down payment required which makes this an excellent first time buyer home loan program. Very much like the USDA Home Loan Program there is no monthly mortgage insurance premium and some of the closing costs can be paid by the seller allowing the buyer to close with no money down.
Most VA Approved Lenders require a 620 credit score and good payment history for the last 24 months. Buyers income should be three times the new mortgage payment with taxes and insurance. Total credit report debts plus new mortgage payment should not be more than half of your gross income.
